Test Tube Clamp & 3 Wood Stirring Sticks

Important: this experiment also requires the equipment in SS-11 or SS-12

 

Ingredients:

 

  • Baking Soda (not baking powder)
  • Vinegar
  • Liquid soap
  • Test tube clamp (provided)
  • Test Tube (from Item SS-11 or SS-12)
  • Stirring sticks (provided)

 

What to do:

 

  • Fill the test tube ½ full with tap water
  • Add a couple drops of liquid soap and stir
  • Add vinegar so the two liquids are near the top of the test tube (leave some room for the baking soda)
  • Hold  the test tube in the test tube clamp and point away from your face.
  • Add a teaspoon of baking soda, and try to stir this quickly.  The reaction is almost instantaneous.
